Free, Green, & Cutting Edge: Israel in the 21st  Century

The Consulate General of Israel to the Southeast, in partnership with Jewish Life at Duke, will be holding their Annual Southeast Region Student Conference :
           Sunday November 15th, 2009
           10:30am – 4:00pm
           Freeman Center for Jewish Life
Duke University – Durham, North Carolina
For security reasons, you MUST REGISTER to attend!

This exciting event features:

  • a talk on Israel’s ethnic and religious diversity by Israeli Ambassador Reda Mansour
  • break-out sessions where you can learn more about the history of modern Israel, the country’s contributions to green technology, and its relationship with neighbors and the United States
  • a faculty panel on Israeli arts, including dance, cinema, and literature
  • a keynote address featuring Professor Amos N. Guiora, a widely-cited expert on counterterrorism and international law
  • an opportunity to meet students, faculty, and staff from other Southeastern higher education institutions
  • FREE kosher lunch and snacks
  • FREE educational materials and promotional items

Ambassador Reda Mansour’s appointment ends this year – this is your one & last chance to meet him and hear him speak!
If his past is any indication of his future, the Ambassador is headed for diplomatic fame; only 35 years old when initially awarded his position, he is distinguished as Israel’s youngest ambassador ever. In addition to his civic accomplishments, Ambassador Mansour is also an historian and is the first ever non-Jewish poet (he is Druze) to write exclusively in Hebrew. He looks forward to meeting all of the conference attendees!
