Student Groups

Hillel Student Board functions as an umbrella organization that endeavors to increase Jewish knowledge and identity amongst Duke students.  Programming ranges from cultural to religious and from social to social action acts to enhance the Jewish community as well as the larger Duke, Durham and global communities.  For more information, please contact Scott Gorlick.  To see bios of this year's Student Board, click here.
 

Duke Friends of Israel is a nonpartisan student organization which offers a safe space to discuss, understand, and learn about Israel.  This group provides a breadth of programming designed to increase the appreciation of all aspects of Israel throughout the Duke community.  For more information, please contact Joav Birjiniuk.

The Duke Friends of Israel’s Political Action Committee (DIPAC) recently received Activist of the Year honors at the AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee) Policy Conference in Washington, D.C. Please click here to read the press release.

Freshman Council allows Jewish first-year students a forum to address issues that relate specifically to them.  As a group these students develop programming, service projects, and learning opportunities while also taking on leadership roles.  For more information about, please contact Molly Himmelstein.

Kol Kachol (קול כחול, Hebrew for "Blue Voice") is Duke's only Jewish a cappella group. Kol Kachol is co-ed and was recently founded in Spring 2008, making us the newest group at Duke. We have a diverse repertoire, ranging from traditional Hebrew melodies to current American and Israeli popular music.  If you are interested in having a huge impact on Duke's newest a cappella group, please contact arp14@duke.edu for more information.
