BETH EL RELIGIOUS SCHOOL TEACHER

Beth El (the Conservative Synagogue within walking distance of Duke’s East Campus) is currently seeking a religious school teacher for first and second grade for the 2009-2010 school year. The class curriculum focuses on bible stories, holidays, and introductory Hebrew reading and writing. Ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in these subject areas, and will have some experience working with young children. The class meets on Sunday mornings, 9:30-11:30 am, and on Wednesday afternoons, 4:15-5:45 pm. Pay will be between $18 and $25 per hour, depending upon experience, education, and Judaic knowledge. SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS FOR KOL HASKALAH: A HUMAMISTIC JEWISH CONGREGATION

    Kol Haskalah: A Humanistic Jewish Congregation (formerly known as TCHJ) is looking for energetic, thoughtful, reliable teachers for our Sunday School. The Sunday School curriculum focuses on teaching Jewish history, culture and ethics in an intercultural, secular Jewish environment. The school meets twice a month on Sunday mornings, 10 a.m. to 12:00pm, from September through mid-May, on the UNC campus. There are classes for children ages 2-12, leading to Bnei Mitsvah.
Pay is $30-40 per session. To learn more please visit our website . Teachers commit to preparing class lesson plans based on our curriculum, being on time, attending every class, and sending out an email update to parents after each class.  RALEIGH BBYO IS SEEKING MALE ADVISORS:
Come make a difference in the lives of high schoolers!

Being a BBYO advisor is a very rewarding opportunity. Raleigh BBYO is seeking MALE advisors to help out with the boys chapter of BBYO in Raleigh - this includes chaperoning events (which tend to happen every other week around the Raleigh area), and a couple of regional conventions. Saul Nachum AZA (the boys' BBYO chapter) has approximately 20-25 active members.  Our events begin at the end of August with a co-ed kick-off pool party event at the Raleigh JCC!

The International Conservation Center in Acre: 'Saving the Stones Program'

The International Conservation Center in Acre: 'Saving the Stones Program'  is an internship in archaeological / historical conservation, taking place in Israel. The program is for young adults, post college / pre grad, who are looking to build up experience on their C.V. In addition to studying ancient stones and building technologies through workshops, lectures, and practical work conducted alongside leading Israeli conservation specialists and archaeologists, participants will tour the country, learn Hebrew, and meet Israeli peers. Tikkun Olam in Tel Aviv-Jaffa 

Tikkun Olam in Tel Aviv-Jaffa offers 22-27 year old, English-speaking college graduates the opportunity to spend 5 or 10 months in Tel Aviv or Jaffa volunteering and studying in Community Service and Coexistence projects alongside a community of young Israeli volunteers. AVODAH - The Jewish Service Corps

A unique one-year program for young adults ages 21-26. Corps members work full time on issues such as immigration, hunger, literacy, public health, and others while exploring their Jewish identity in a pluralistic and open environment.   The application for the 2009-2010 program year is now available online

Interim Director of Religious School 

Temple Beth Or is in search of a temporary lead administrator for Sunday School and midweek Hebrew School. Work Study Position

The Labor and Working Class History Association, whose office operates out of the Sanford Institute for Public Policy, is seeking a work study for 5-8 hours per week.   LAWCHA is an organization of scholars, teachers, students, labor educators, and activists who seek to promote public and scholarly awareness of labor and working class history through research, writing and organization.  Computer skills, especially basic web skills, a plus.  Hours are very flexible.  If you are interested, please email Abby Goldman (eag14@duke.edu) or Bob Korstad (rkorstad@duke.ed)
